I figure it's a standard A/C system, and I added (once) the filler from the auto parts store. The only fluid I've messed with is the A/C system. I've spent a lot of time reading AP's (Vic's) posts on what he's done, and if it didn't break his van, it's probably safe on mine. There's no telling what the stop-leak will do to it.
The engine coolant is just weird.needs that special HOAT stuff. I've also seen wear marks on someone else's crank shaft caused by having the not-so-Sprinter-knowledgeable technicians Jiffy Lube change the oil. I've heard too many horror stories on this forum about "I tried XXX" in a fluid system, and it didn't end well. I've found that the Sprinter fluid systems are soooo sensitive to the chemistry (well, it's German engineering) that I don't mess with additives.
Like many here, I'm a somewhat-competent shade tree mechanic. Recently I have begun to see a few drops of coolant leaking after each time I drive, but I can't find the leak. I searched but I didn't see any definitive info if radiator stop leak products work or are okay to use. 2006 Dodge 2500 with 314,000 miles I have replaced all coolant lines earlier this year.
